1449798 Coking heavy hydrocarbon oils CONTINENTAL OIL CO 2 May 1975 [2 July 1974] 18522/75 Heading C5E In a delayed coking process in which a normally liquid hydrocarbon feedstock is coked under delayed coking conditions, coke fines are added to the coking drum at a'temperature above 850‹ F. and not substantially below the coking temperature of the liquid feedstock, without the aid of a carrier fluid, before the liquid hydrocarbon feedstock; the delayed coke formed is therafter calcined, preferably at 1000-1500‹ C., and-the vaporous overheads are recovered. The coke fines, which preferably have a particle size less than 20 mesh (US) may be added in calcined or uncalcined form in an amount up to 15% of the total coke produced. The vapours recovered are fractionated and the bottoms fraction is recycled by mixing with the liquid feedstock. |
