A vertically movable table 4 has a fixed stop 5 and two retractable stops 71, 72, each stop being associated with a photo-electric detector 6, 81 or 82. A push bar 9 for the articles is movable in a plane above article guides 3 and guides 11 are provided on the platform 10. The conveyer members 1, 2 may be belts or chains. With the speed V of the members 2 greater than the speed v of the members 1, the table 4 being lowered and the stops 71, 72 retracted, a first article is stopped at 5. The detector 6, actuated by the first article, causes stop 71 to rise and the second article is stopped. Similarly a third article is stopped at 72. The detector 82 causes the table 4 to rise and the articles are raised clear of the members 2 and the guides 3. The detector 82 also causes the push-bar 9 to be operated, for the articles to be transferred to the platform 10.</p> |
