<p>1388259 Tape measures MESSWERKZEUGK G GUSTAV ULLRICH 28 March 1973 [9 May 1972] 15002/73 Heading G1M A P.V.C. tape 1 has reinforcing glass fibre filaments 2 and one or more end reinforcements 3 each having a length, measured in the direction of the length of the tape, which is at least as great as the width of the tape and provided with end edges forming one or more Vee points 4 instead of a single straight across edge, this arrangement ensuring that the tape does not fracture or bend straight across or in one part in use as none of the filaments 2 extends at a right angle to the line of bend which is not now a simple transverse line. Below the tip of the Vee formed between the points 4, that is the edge part of the layer 1, no glass fibre filaments are present. In Figs.2-4 (not shown) the reinforcement 3 is provided with differently shaped end edges, but they each make an acute angle with the longitudinal axis of the tape portion I, and no filaments are present beneath the points formed by these edges, and/or the edges of the tape. If twisted filaments are provided, the line of transition or edge between the tape 1 and the reinforcement 3 should be at an angle equal to the angle of twist and in the same direction.</p> |
