1422845 Nerve stimulators MEDTRONIC INC 7 May 1973 [8 May 1972] 21683/73 Heading A5R A nerve stimulator comprises an electrical pulse generator 10, a filter 13 for producing pulses, each of which has frequency components such that substantially 90% of its energy falls within substantially 100-5000 Hz and electrodes 17, 18 for stimulating the nerves. The generator 10 may be a full wave or a half wave generator provided with a repetition frequency control 11. The fundamental frequency lies in the range of about 1000-3000 Hz. The filter 13 is a low pass active filter, the output of which feeds a power amplifier 15 which provides a constant current output to a transformer 20 and the electrodes 17, 18. A frequency synthesizer may, alternatively, be used in place of the generator 10 and the filter 13.
