The silencer is for use with a mower driven by an internal combustion engine, and is in the form of an annular filter (20) in several stages. This is divided into chambers, separated by radial partitions (28, 30, 32) connected to each other by pipes (34, 36). Where the mower has a vertical shaft and rotary blade support, the silencer can be mounted round the shaft and inside the cutter housing in which the shaft runs. There can be an inlet pipe (22) discharging radially into the first chamber, and an exhaust pipe leading tengentally from the last one (38). Vanes can be provided on the shaft for cooling the silencer by air, and there can be indentations (40) in the silencer outside wall (24). |
