A process for treating allergic and autoimmunity diseases comprises administering an effective dose of 6-methyl-16-methylene-17-alpha-hydroxy-pregna-4,6-diene-3,20-dion- e (ester) of formula (I): (where R is H or 1-12C alkyl) is used e. g. for treating evolutive chronic polyarthritis, acute rheumation of the joints, lupus erythematosus, psoriasis, asthma, hay fever, vasomotor rhinitis and allergic dermatitis. (I) are at least as effective as usual glucocorticosteroids but give greatly reduced secondary effects. |
