Soft contact lenses which have been treated with hydrogen peroxide for sterilisation are freed from hydrogen peroxide with the aid of a catalyst which decomposes hydrogen peroxide. The removal of hydrogen peroxide can be carried out either in a separate operation after the sterilisation or at the same time as the sterilisation. Suitable catalysts are metals from periods 4, 5 and 6 of the Periodic Table of the Elements and metals of the actinide series. Particular preference is given to platinum black applied to a support, in particular platinum wire, platinum foil or aluminium oxide pellets. |
