1434154 Dynamo-eiectric machines EICKHOFF MASCHINENFABRIK UND EISENGIESSEREI mbH Gebr 19 Aug 1974 [30 Aug 1973] 36339/74 Heading H2A An electric motor comprises capacitive probes 22, 23 at its opposite ends for sensing the entry of fluid into the motor, the probes being connected, in use, to a warning device and/or to a device for switching the motor off. The motor is intended for use in coal-cutting machinery, there being a damper of lubricating oil from the gearing driving the cutting head leaking into the driving motor with possible consequent damage to the motor windings. The probe 22 is formed by a ring-shaped electrode 26 and an adjacent part of the motor housing 4, there being insulating ribs 27 between the two. The probe 23 comprises a channel-shaped member 28, Fig. 3 (not shown), and a ring (30) separated by insulating ribs (29). In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), a probe comprises a ring electrode disposed between oil seals 19 and separated from shaft 9 by insulating ribs, the shaft forming the second electrode. In a further modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), one electrode is formed by the end cover 10 and the other by a plate (37) disposed between the end cover and the adjacent bearing bracket 8. |
