An app for a mobile device provides a method of creating a hyperlink from a text messaging text entry field. One or more keyboard characters are assigned as control characters respectively designating the start and end of a text search string in the text messaging text entry field. When the user clicks "send" the text search string between the control characters displays in the message thread of both the sender and receiver(s) as a hyperlinked text. The method can further be employed for invoking a search. When the user clicks the hyperlinked text, the text is copied and pasted into the search field of an app having searching functionality such as a browser, which returns results based on a search of the text search string. In some embodiments the user may toggle between the browser and the particular text conversation from which the search was initiated. |
