1343825 Doctor device BLACK CLAWSON CO 19 April 1971 [15 April 1970] 27015/ 71 Heading D1L A coating doctor apparatus comprises an air doctor 12, the outlet 13 of which is directed at a coating on a web 11 passing around a backing roller 10, a flow control wall 20 and a shroud 21. The flow control wall has an inlet section 22 which, in conjunction with the roller 10 forms a narrow slot through which the air from the doctor 12 (and coating removed thereby) passes, and a throat section 23 of greater radius of curvature than the roller 10, the air following the flow control wall 20 and passing into a diffuser section 40. Removed coating attaches itself to the wall 20 and is collected in a sump 60. Sprays of water may be injected from nozzles 50 and 51 to entrain any coating mist which has formed and prevent its escape. |
