PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can control the amount of a lubricant on an intermediate transfer body even during transfer of an image.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 comprises a latent image carrier 1 on which a latent image is formed, a lubricant supply part 8, a developing part 4, a transfer part 5, and a control part 11. The lubricant supply part 8 supplies a lubricant to the latent image carrier 1. The developing part 4 develops the latent image into a toner image by supplying, to the latent image carrier 1, the lubricant taken in from the latent image carrier 1 together with a charged toner. The transfer part 5 applies a transfer voltage to the toner image developed by the developing part 4 to transfer the toner image to an image carrier 6 at a transfer position. The control part 11 controls application of the transfer voltage at the transfer position. The lubricant is charged to a polarity reverse to a charging polarity of the toner at the transfer position. On the basis of the area ratio and the number of sheets to which the toner image is transferred at an arbitrary timing, the control part 11 controls a transfer voltage to be applied subsequent to the timing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
