1508468 Continuous casting of cylindrical foam blocks POLICASTILLA SA 17 Oct 1975 [16 Sept 1975] 42732/75 Heading B5A A long cylindrical block of foamed plastics, e.g. polyurethane is cast in apparatus comprising a fixed mould 3 of cylindrical inner surface, a conveyer belt 2 which runs inside and lengthwise of the mould 3, a paper layer 10 to prevent adhesion of the foaming material to the mould or the belt, and a means 1 for supplying foamable material on to the layer 10. Belt 2 lies in a recess 7 in the bottom of mould 3 to ensure a cylindrical surface in the product, and is heated by heater 12 to the same temperature as the mould (which is heated by the exothermicity of the foaming reaction) so as to ensure substantially uniform density, of the product. |
