Large dia. slender blade disc (2) for deep single pass rock e.g. marble cutting, is metallic with peripheral teeth (3) rigidly bearing cutting edges (4) of the diamond impregnated matrix; obviates blade clogging or thick plates required respectively for soft or hard matrices in prior art; and embodies cutting edges (4) of heat treated binder and diamond composition featuring a uniformity of diamond concentration as the edge erodes under working conditions: this concentration depending on the nature of rock being cut but remaining constant irrespective of depth of pass. Pref. the concentration of diamond cutting elements remains constant as pass depth varies with constant pressure and peripheral velocity; and is maintained so by varying cutting pad (4) geometry or diamond concentration with pass depth. |
