The pump has a driving motor, parts of whose spindle extends into the pump casing so as to mount the impeller at its hub. The capnut (30) securing hub (19) and spindle (25) together has a hollow central cylindrical extension (36) fitting inside the hub. There is a groove (37) in this extension accommodating a sealing ring (39) bearing against the inner wall of the hub. The design avoids the need to use rust-resistant metal for the motor spindle. The pump is of the centrifugal type, and there is a flexible bellows seal surrounding the motor shaft at the point where it enters the pump casing.
