The automatic sensing system is for measuring environmental parameters in liquid media. The top part of the sensor comprises a wetting indicator (1) and a mechanical coupling (2). The middle part comprises a technical box (3) enclosing graphical, magnetic and/or photographic recording equipment and associated transducers and/or sensors. The floatability of the box may be modified by using an auxiliary float (30). A hydro-dynamic re-emergence brake (4) is provided, this taking the form of an inverted parachute. The bottom part of the sensor is detachable and comprises a suspended weight (7). A transmit-receive transponder (5) is included which uses elastic waves.
