The high voltage trolley-type switchgear consists of a switching trolley (4) with contacts to connect with either of two busbar systems (I, II). To reduce the space occupied by the equipment, and especially to reduce its height, the busbars, belonging to the second system (II) are arranged one above the other parallel to the rear wall of the switching area, and the lateral fixed contacts (1), with which the trolley contacts connect, are connected by vertical connecting busbars (I1R, S, T) to the higher busbar system (I). The other lateral contacts (2), at the opposite end of the trolley's travel, are connected by vertical connecting busbars (II1R, s, T) to the lower busbar system (II).
