1532315 Rotary positive-displacement fluid machines O T ALUND 20 April 1976 [21 April 1975] 15845/76 Heading F1F In an axially-sliding vane machine, pairs of vanes 5 mounted in the rotor and acting in opposite axial directions co-operate with a pair of annular plates 17 and abutments 6, the latter being fixed but the plates 17 being movable axially in response to the valve-controlled pressure in chambers 20 behind the plates. The rotor 3, the vanes 5 the abutments 6 and the plates 17 define working spaces each of which is connected to annular spaces 8, 10 for supply and discharge of fluid. The valve 23 has a spool 25 biased in one direction by a spring 26 and in the other by high-pressure fluid from space 8. The spool 25 controls the connection of chamber 20 to either space 8 or chamber 21 which is at ambient pressure. The vanes 5 have axial extensions at their bases which are biased by springs 16 and acted upon by cams 19 Fig. 3 in the region of abutments 6. Operating as an hydraulic motor, an increase of load will increase supply pressure in space 8 moving spool 25 upwards to connect chambers 20 to chamber 21. Thus the working chambers will increase in volume increasing driving force. A decrease in load will result in a decrease in driving force. A manual over-ride is provided by a bowden cable 27. |
