Cardboard drum with plastic ends - has discs injection moulded directly on drum ends

The drum or container (1) is made from cardboard or similar fibrous material. Each end is closed by a shaped disc (2) of rigid plastic. This is injection moulded directly in place on the drum, the plastic penetrating the fibres to give a good keying effect. The periphery is a flanged bead over the edge of the drum. The end pieces are plain, and have a raised or recessed portion for rigidity and to permit insertion or marking of a trade name. They may also be flat, with printing underneath, showing through the thickness, or an aperture can left for a lid.
