Prodn. of hollow bodies with a base piece by means of inclined rolling with mandrel and ram where the heated and centred circular block is first rolled with the mandrel and under the pressure of the ram and is then rolled without the mandrel and without the pressure of the ram. The rolling speed is reduced towards the end of the first rolling. A device to effect this prodn. procedure has equipment to control the ram and to open the mandrel thrust bearing according to the ram path.
