1451382 Cabinets ROBERT KRAUSE KG 17 Dec 1973 [16 Dec 1972] 58403/73 Heading A4B [Also in Division F2] In a hinged support assembly for the attachment to an article of furniture of a movable portion, two sets of parallelogram linkage arms 7, 9, are pivoted on pins 8, 10 respectively, relatively to two fixed bearing side-plates 2, and at their other ends are pivotally joined to two brackets 11 which can carry the movable portion, e.g. a shelf (not shown), with the two arms 9 secured directly together by a bar cross-member 12, and the assembly may be pivoted from a retracted stowage position (not shown) upwardly and outwardly until a pin 32 engages a latch 30 for retaining the assembly in an extended position, Fig. 1. Throughout this travel, the upper faces of brackets 11 will remain parallel with their horizontal attitude, as shown in Fig. 1. The two latches 30, on a common cross-shaft 28, urged into engagement by tension springs 39, Fig. 3, may be disengaged by tension applied through a link 33 by a pivoted handle 35. The weight of the hinged assembly may be counterbalanced by two sub-assemblies 16, each comprising a guide rod 19, located between a clevis pin (15) on arm 14 and a hole 18 at the rear of plate 2, the rod 19 carrying a fixed collar 20, a sliding bush 22, and a compression spring 23. A bracket member 36, secured to plate 2, provides both a rotary stop for latch 30 and also a limit stop for the upward pivoting travel of arm 9. The fixed bearing plate 2 forms part of a composite folded sheet-metal member 1, of offset Z-shaped section, which includes a fixing flange 3, a connecting web 4, and a wing 5 which conceals from view the gap between the plate 2, and the furniture aperture. |
