A sound level control system, with adjustments to the frequency characteristics accompanying variation in loudness level, especially suitable for a sound studio control desk. The sound level control system has a frequency selectve circuit with an amplitude/frequency characteristic having a peak in the audio range corresponding to the pass band of a bandpass filter, and means are provided to vary the frequency of the maximum in accordance with the degree of gain. The peak frequency in the characteristic curve is preferably increased with increasing gain, and additional controlled peaks in the audio frequency range may also be provided.
