The silica may be in the form of silica sand, and the chromium compound may be Cr(OH) 3 and/or a soluble chromium salt and/or Cr 2 O 3 , preferably Cr 2 O 3 or industrial chromite (44% CT 2 O 3 ). The alumina may be hydrated or anhydrous and may be in the form of clay. Use as coating material. A ladle or other metallurgical vessel, optionally prime-coated, may be coated with the raw material by sling- ing, or with bricks of the raw material. Contact e.g. with molten steel, fires the raw material to form the refractory. |
