Equipment to protect civil or military installations, machinery tanks against projectiles arriving on a near-vertical trajectory, has a set of steel ropes one above the other, rotating in a horizontal plane in the manner of slings (6). Each rope can be separately would onto a drum by an electric motor common to all the discs keyed onto the spindle. There can be a weight at the end of each rope, tending to pull the rope off the drum under centrifugal force.
