<p>Pouring valve for molten metals, for fixing on the outlet pipe of a melting furnace, the valve body contg. a channel connected to the furnace outlet pipe, and with means for closing the channel working at 90 degrees to the axis of the channel. The channel outlet terminates in a flat surface on which a sliding plate is moved by a lever mounted on a pivot fixed on the valve body, the lever being connected to the sliding plate by a ball and socket joint. An inclined guide plate pref. controls the path of the lever so the sliding plate is only forced against the flat surface when the channel is completely closed. The valve body is pref. prolonged by a gutter and an outlet nozzle pointing downwards, through which the melt flows. A simple device avoiding the problems arising when a stopper rod is used inside the furnace, and the valve body may be equipped with an auxiliary heating device if required.</p> |
