From the main part of the hook its width increases continuously and symmetrically as far as the point. The maximum width of the point can be greater than the thickness of the main part, and at least as great as the height of the load-supporting portion. There can be two lateral protrusions on the body of the hook, running in the lengthwise direction, the total thickness at this point being nearly equal to the maximum hook point width. The ends of the protrusions can be sloping. A locking catch can be provided, pivoting at a point near the hook eye, and with a recess hook. The edge of this recess bears against the main part of the hook when the catch is in the locking position.
