Discharge pipe and seal for vacuum vessel - has sealing ring with swivel slide and compressed air loading

The vacuum vessel is used for the vacuum processing of plastics and filler materials and has a discharge pipe and seal design which ensures that the seal region is kept clean. The discharge pipe (17) has a flange (20) on its free end with a sealing ring (27) and an interacting sealing element in the form of a slide (21) having the shape of a sector of a circle with an opening (24). The slide swivels in a plane parallel to that of the flange. The sealing ring (27) has a U-shaped cross-section and is seated in a U-shaped groove in the surface of the flange. The annular chamber created between the groove and the sealing ring can be loaded with compressed air. The discharge pipe can be evacuated by a vacuum pump whereby the vacuum connection (33) is located near to the flange (20). The plane of the flange forms an angle of between 5 deg. and 30 deg. with the horizontal.
