1456412 Adhesives BERGER JENSON & NICHOLSON Ltd 13 Feb 1975 [23 May 1974] 23001/74 Heading C3B A composition curable to a pressure sensitive adhesive comprises at least one terpolymer of vinyl acetate, at least one alkyl or cycloalkyl (meth)acrylate and at least one α,#-ethylylenically unsaturated epoxy compound present at 0À1-2 parts by wt. per 100 parts of terpolymer and phosphoric acid and/or an acid organic ester of phosphoric acid, e.g. a commercial butyl acid phosphate. An exemplified terpolymer is prepared from 760 parts by wt. vinyl acetate, 1220 parts ethylhexyl acrylate and 20 parts glycidyl methacrylate. The phosphoric acid or ester may be employed at up to 5 times the stoichiometrical equivalent of the epoxy groups in the terpolymer. The adhesives may be used to form tapes on conventional substrates, e.g. polyvinyl chloride film. |
