1456271 Preventing hypo-magnesaemia in ruminants PAULS & WHITES FOOD Ltd 9 Jan 1975 [10 Jan 1974] 01141/74 Heading A5B Hypo-magnesaemia in ruminants is prevented by dispensing water into a drinking trough providing the ruminants' water intake and using a fluid proportioning device to introduce automatically into the water a predetermined proportion of an aqueous solution of a magnesium salt which does not render the water unpalatable, the proportion of the solution dispensed being such in relation to the concentration and the estimated water intake of the ruminants to provide an intake of Mg sufficient to prevent hypo-magnesaemia. The magnesium salt may be the acetate or the propionate. The fluid proportioning device may be such as is described in Specification 977081. |
