<p>The transport system is for signal recording and/or reproduction on or from disc-like recording media. The transducers used are mounted on a base plate and can move transversally to the recording tracks. The base plate is slidingly mechanically connected with a cylinder centrally placed on the recording disc. Transducers are connected with a gear in mesh with a worm gear in the recording disc centre, driving it continuously at a rate which is a function of the disc speed. This arrangement permits the track width to be reduced as desired to realise a long playing time.</p> |
