The electric motor has a parallelepiped housing (2) which is open on the base surfaces and is hollow internally. The housing (2) in which the stator laminate stack and the stator windings as well as the rotor are arranged in a removable manner is provided on one side with an incision (13) which extends over the entire length of the housing (2). The lugs (15, 16), which form the incision (13), of the housing (2) are pulled towards one another by means of screws (21), the stator laminate stack and the stator windings as well as two side closure parts, which are fitted detachably on in each case one end of the housing (2), being secured in their position. In consequence, the motor can easily be installed and removed. The electric motor (1) can be mounted, by means of screws, on a frame or on a machine in various positions, by means of grooves (66) which are constructed on the sides of the housing (2). <IMAGE>
