An inert gas hood type annealing installation, in particularly a line of such assemblies having an annealing hood which comes down on a surrounding support surface having an outward directed stand up flange. A gasket type device is attached to the support surface of the furnace seating such that the entire seating arrangement and seal may be cooled with cold gas. Construction is such that the coolant gas channel (7) which is attached to the stand up flange (6) of the furnace hood (5) forms a further gas cooler system.
