1459896 Blood filter, foam prevention BAXTER TRAVENOL LABORATORIES INC 28 May 1974 [20 July 1973] 23540/74 Headings BID and B1M A blood filter comprises a casing enclosing a rigid perforate support tube 18 carrying a mass 38 of metal or plastics fibres carrying an organosilicon defoaming agent enclosed by a nylon mesh sleeve 40, inlet 28 and valve 52 communicating with the bore of tube 18 and the space 31 communicating with outlet 30 and air vent (46) (Fig. 1, not shown). Valve 52 selectively closes the upper end of tube 18 or connects it to a second air vent 42 or a second blood inlet (44). Inlet 28 may communicate with two or more tube connectors (Fig. 1). A wall 29 may divide tube 18 so that blood delivered through inlet 28 and second inlet (44) cannot mix before filtering. Tube 18 may be imperforate up to level 34 (� to � up the tube). Tube 18 fits over plugs 20, 22 with the ends of sleeve 40 pinched therebetween. All inlet, outlet and vent connectors have ribs to receive tubes and are shown with sterile caps. |
