Lignite based soil improving agents prodn. - by granulating lignite with bacterially degradable materials, esp. clarification sludge

New process is claimed for producing soil improving agents from lignite and bacterially degradable materials. The lignite (pref. raw lignite) is comminuted to a granule size suitable for the mixing process and then mixed with the bacterially degradable materials (pref. clarification sludge), and the mixture is converted into particulate form, pref. by pelleting. The prod. are chemically completely neutral and odour-free. They can be used at practically any time of year, irrespective of the state of the vegetation. The products are particularly easy to handle, and can be applied using existing commercial fertilizer spreaders. The agents advantageously contain a calcareous binding agent (pref. fly ash). They may additionally contain N-, phosphate- and/or potash-contg. substances. The particle size of the finished product is pref. 2-6 mm, esp. 2-5 mm or 3-6 mm.
