<p>A system for spreading grit on the road, ahead of the wheels of a vehicle, partic. during icy or snowy weather conditions, use a grit distributor (1) mounted on the vehicle itself, ahead of each wheel. The container for the grit (7) can be double walled, and can carry a sliding flap (3) operated from the driving seat to control the discharge of the material. Two containers may be mounted, each positioned ahead of a rear wheel, and may be connected to the engine exhaust pipe so that one contents are heated during the cold weather. The contents can be discharged by a rotary distributor with e.g. distributor blades. The discharge may be controlled in accordance with the speed of the vehicle.</p> |
