Central heating/hot water system for building comprises a heat pump consisting of an evaporator (15) to which air is supplied from the atmosphere by a fan (22). A condenser transfers heat generated by the pump to a heating pipe. A compressor conveys refrigerant in a closed circuit from evaporator to condenser. The evaporator and fan are mounted beneath the roof of the building, and the air drawn in by the fan is passed to the evaporator via a cavity formed by the roof and a panel. A duct (21) leads to the evaporator. A second panel may be connected to the cavity. Air is then drawn in at the bottom of the second panel, and passed through the cavity formed by the second panel to the cavity beneath the roof.
|
