Compact drive hub for bicycle - with extension and ball races for free wheel drive tags in bearing groove

The compact bicycle hub (11) is supported at the one end by a single ball race (12a) and on the other side by a second ball race (24) located on a separate element (6) screwed onto the end of the hub. The separate element and the inside part of the hub provide locating grooves for two smaller ball races (8, 9) which serve to support the chain drive wheels (7) and which also contain the sprung tags (5) of the freewheel drive. The hub is thus made up of a minimum of components and is easily assembled without complicated equipment. It is also repaired easily. The bearing sleeves screw onto the hub, so that both smaller races are adjusted simultaneously whilst the hub bearings have the normal threaded axle.
