<p>The force limiter for a safety belt allows limited preliminary shifting of the wearer with simultaneous energy absorption when it responds. The force limiter is placed over a loop (5) of the belt, and includes braking jaws (7, 8) which apply an adjustable pressure to the outer surfaces (9) of the loop. One jaw (7) forms the bottom (10) of the housing of the force limiter, while the other (8), extending from the housing, abuts against an adjuster bolt (12) with an intermediate pair of cup springs (11). On the shank (13) of the bolt maybe a projection (14) which abuts against a control track (15) in the housing, while the head (16) of the bolt is provided with a pointer (17) which moves over a calibrated scale fixed to the housing. The control track is stepped, and the scale is divided into adjustment zones.</p> |
