<p>The system is for catching water-rats and kindred animals with similar habits. Floating traps (2) are set near to and parallel with the banks of a watercourse, the inlets (4) to them being concealed under an obstacle. There can be inlets at both ends, there being a float (8) on top of the trap of roughly the same width, and extending beyond it at both ends. Two or more traps can be mounted side by side underneath a common float extending over all of them, and the traps can be anchored so as to float up and down with the water level, typically by means of eyes (10) fitting round stationary bars parallel to the slope of the bank.</p> |
