<p>The caprolactam (I) is recrystallised in solvents selected from alkyl esters of aliphatic carboxylic acids of formula CmH2m+1COOCnH2n+1 (where m = 1 or 2, and n = 1-4,), e.g. (m)ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, etc. In an example, 1 pt. wt. crude (I) is heated to below 80 degrees C in 0.5 to 3 pts. wt. of the solvents with stirring until a perfectly homogeneous layer is obtd, and then the temp. of the liq. is lowered. The crystals formes are sepd. from the mother liq.</p> |
