The appts. is for chemically testing a liquid by passing it into a vessel contg. a reagent. A valve is operated to pulse the liquid to avoid blocking of the passage into the vessel. It can be used for checking a fluid for carbon contact by injecting it into a bed of copper oxide. The valve (12) is pulsed by a linear air motor operated by a solenoid-controlled air circuit. The valve has a water circuit (A, G) and a completely separate test reagent passageway.
