A road vehicle battery supply cut-out switch operates due to an acceleration or a deceleration. It can avoid extended fire damage due to an accident. The cut-out switch, has two terminals (4) for connecting to the circuit to be protected. Each terminal (4) is connected to a contact (6b) which has a semi-annular shape. Each contact (6b) has a permanent magnet (10). A moving contact disc with openings (13) bridges the gap between the two fixed contacts (6a not shown, 6b). The moving contact disc can be pulled back by a knob if the openings (13) are opposite pips (16). The pips (16) can however be positioned opposite the openings (13) by rotation of the knob. A steel ball (20) is located in the spave between the fixed contacts (6a, 6b). Any acceleration greater than a set value acts on the ball (20) which moves the disc from its closed position to an opened position. In each position, magnets (10, 18) hold the disc.
|
