<p>A lens grinder for concave lenses includes separately adjustable controls for each of the two oscillatory motions applied. The tool (2) is mounted on the base of a rod (19) suspended by a universal joint (23) from a swinging cantilever support arm (9). The mounting of the support arm permit it to oscillate relative to a horizontal axis (6) parallel to the long support arm axis and above the workpiece (4). The workpiece support (13) may oscillate about a secondary axis (32) perpendicular to and intersecting the primary axis (6). Both primary and secondary axes pass through the vertical line which intersects the workpiece centroid. The oscillation mechanisms may have linkages (63, 78) with a rocking lever (71) stabiliser, a fork (75) and a con rod (63) to a rotating eccentric (62) drive.</p> |
