Commutator with friction held pressure ring - has tapered edges of ring fitting into recessed winding support

The commutator, without hub, has mutually insulated laminae with recesses for a presure ring fixed to the winding support by its extension. The rounded pressure ring (4) is made of plastics and is pressed axially onto the conical inner surface of the recess (3). The inclination of the conical recess and the pressure ring is chosen so that the pressure ring is held rigidly in the recess by friction. An intermediate layer of material of high coefficient of friction may be interposed between the ring and recess. The ring bordering the winding support (5) has ridges (9) on its face facing the shaft (7). No heating is required for the close fit between ring and recess.
