1481910 Piezoelectric ignition SEB SA 14 Nov 1975 [20 Dec 1974] 47086/75 Heading F4F A lighter, particularly for gas burners, comprises a casing 1a containing a piezoelectric element 2 and means for compressing the element, and spark electrodes 5, 14 connected to the element, the connection to one electrode being constituted by conductors 15a, 15b rigidly fixed to a longitudinal wall 18 of the casing, one conductor 15a being attached to one end of a transverse wall 19 of the casing and an end of the other conductor 15b being engaged in a recess in the wall 19, a spark gap E located substantially at the intersection of the walls 18, 19 being thus formed between the two conductors. The conductors are secured to opposite sides of the wall 18, and the conductor 15b may have an arcuate portion and be bent so as to bear resiliently on a complementary surface (19b), Fig. 2 (not shown), of the recess, so that the width of the gap (preferably 0À1 mm) is determined by the dimensions of the wall 19. Alternatively, Fig. 4 (not shown), there may be a strip (20) of insulating material between the conductors 15a, 15b, a hole (21) therein defining the spark gap E, whose width is thus determined by the thickness of the strip (20).
|
