<p>The sandals have tubular straps (1) with smooth external surfaces thus avoiding chafing of the wearer's foot. The straps may be of a curved e.g. oval cross-sectional profile, contain a pocket of air, be of transparent material and contain a preformed elastic ribbon. The sandal may comprise a sole (7) and a transverse toe strap (1) with the strap ends (3,4) bonded into recesses on the underside of the sole. A heel strap may be provided and the toe strap comprise two crossing straps. The two crossing straps may be reduced in section to accommodate a welded connection. Alternatively the sole may be of two laminae with strap ends anchored between layers, or the sole may be moulded with strap ends flattened.</p> |
