A tote bin handling truck comprises a motorised, steerable chassis carrying a horizontal loading platform and vertical mast(s). A horizontal lifting bar is fitted with longitudinally spaced grippers to engage a series of tote bins in order to load them on to or offload them from the loading platform. The lifting bar is attached to the mast(s) by a powdered linkage which can move the bar in vertical and/or horizontal planes while retaining the horizontal orientation of the bar. Twin masts pref. carry a horizontal "reach" pantograph linkage from which a vertical "lifting" pantograph is suspended. The grippers are pref. suction pads which are independently operable. Each suction pad can pref. be advanced and retracted on the rod of a powder cylinder. Mechanical handling moving and sorting tote bins are facilitated. Method is esp. useful for tote bins of fish auctioned in the quayside market.
