The tensioner is fitted to the actuating cable for the game of table football in order to take up the variations in cable length due to manipulation of the figures. It comprises a grooved upper pulley (6) fixed to the table frame by means of a bracket (49). This also carries a similar lower pulley (7) mounted on a hinge (45,65), forward of the upper pulley and able to move about the pivot (66). The cable (5) passes over both pulley and is tensioned by means of a spring (67) with one end (68) on the bracket and the other end (69) on the pulley half of the hinge.
