<p>1474789 Valves ACF INDUSTRIES Inc 18 July 1974 [23 Oct 1973] 31989/74 Heading F2V In a clapper-type check valve having a swinging valve member coacting with a seat ring 48 sliding in a recess in a valve body 14, controlled fluid is trapped in a chamber 58, formed between an end face 56 of the seat ring and an annular ledge 44 in the valve body, to cushion the movement of the seat ring as the valve member contacts it when closing. A seal 74 is mounted on the end face 56. A further seal 82 of polyfluoroethylene is provided on the end face 78 of the seat ring which coacts with the valve member. Springs 68 maintain the seat ring in an extended position when the valve is open. The travel of the seat ring is limited by screws 64 the ends of which engage in an annular groove 38 in the valve body.</p> |
