The tin-opener is of the key type, having a nut which ejects the torn off and coile strip. It has a stem (1) with a square-section thread and resistant to thurst loads, and on which there works a wingnut (2) with the same thread. The nut has an external thrust face. The stem with coarse-pitch thread may have a slot at one end, gripping the tear-open tongue on the tin, and a handle at the other incorporating a bottle-opner (4). The wings of the nut can incorporate a saw, a cutter, a piercing punch, and a twist-grip slot. The opener allows easy opening of tins with tear-open lugs without the risk of injury to hands etc., and the torn-off strip is easily discarded to allow re-use.
|
