The pump for gases and vapours has a spiral housing with a rotor turning inside. The rotor (1.1) is made from thin metal and contoured axially or radially in corrugations or with blades. It provides impulses by centrifugal or transverse forces. The peripheral rotor section consists of one or more superimposed ring areas having a concentric rotation (1.2a) with edges ending in narrow points which may be radially slotted. Within the diffuser there is a flow element (1.4) and diffusor rings (1.5) acting as sound dampers.
